Release Dev Log — False Grammar: Ritual

This went out fast. On purpose.

False Grammar: Ritual has been developing alongside The Wrong Alphabet, and both are still very much in flux. But once people started generating truly broken fonts, it felt wrong to keep the tool that actually lets you use them to myself.

So I pushed this out as soon as it was solid enough to mess with.

The point of this release is simple: you make a weird alphabet, then you immediately get to drag it through space and see what happens.

Why it’s early

The fonts coming out of The Wrong Alphabet aren’t well-behaved. They stretch, overlap, jitter, and sometimes confuse software that expects fonts to act “correctly.”

False Grammar doesn’t try to fix that. It treats those quirks as features.

This version exists so you can take a freshly generated font and treat it like ink instead of text. Draw with it. Stack it. Let it smear, echo, and fall apart.

Font weirdness & compatibility

These glitch fonts do not play nicely with everything. Some programs handle them fine. Others absolutely do not.

• Some apps render them cleanly
• Some mangle them in interesting ways
• Some just give up

That’s expected.

One neat thing: the fonts seem to be installable on iPhone using iFont. Once installed, they work in more apps like Freeform

No promises, but it’s working often enough to be useful.

Where this is headed

This isn’t a finished tool. Neither is The Wrong Alphabet.

They’re being built together as parts of a larger system for asemic writing, experimental typography, and treating text like a material instead of a message.

If things break, that’s part of the process. If they break in a cool way, even better.

More tuning, more features, and tighter integration are coming. For now, this is the raw version.
